BACCARAT (1764 - to the present), French luxury Crystal Company

In 1764, the King of France gave permission to found a glassworks in the town of Baccarat in the Lorraine region in eastern France. The Manufacture received its first royal commission in 1823 and this started a lengthy line of commissions for royalty and heads of state throughout the world. Baccarat won its first (of a long list) gold medal at the 1855 Universal Exhibition of Paris...
